"Thanks for the nice article on SUVs in the Sept.
1999 Toy Cars & Vehicles. In addition to those mentioned, Maisto makes
a 3" Mercedes-Benz ML 320 and will have a 3" 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee
available in October."
Charles Hepperle, Maisto International, Inc., Fontana, CA
Editor's response: Some of you may have seen that i have been writing
for Toy Cars and Vehicles. It's nice to know that the manufacturers are
listening to collectors. Watch for more about Maisto in future issues.
"This is all wonderful... I have collected in this scale
since before I could walk or talk... and I have waited a long time for a
medium like this. I was wondering...how do I become a contributor to this
site? I already contribute columns to a site that has been running for
some time. Please let me know... Thanx!"
George Sakalo, Plainsboro, NJ
Editor's response: George is sending an article on Matchbox for possible
inclusion in a future issue. If you would like to contribute, let me know.
"I buy, collect, document and sell toys based on the Pontiac Fiero.
I see that you have a few in your collection. I have about 200-250 in my
collection. I would be please to share that documentation which I have completed
with you if you'd like. For instance, There are 28 different Hot Wheel Fiero
2M4's. Also, the HW Sting Road is based on the Fiero."
Ray Paulk, Hopedale, MA
Editor's response: Ray and I have done some trading and he has sent
me his list of Fiero variations.
"I just had a chance to read your June editorial regarding Johnny Lightning
die-cast cars. As the Johnny Lightning Brand Director here at Playing Mantis,
I wanted to drop you a note to say thanks for the recognition you gave our
company. We work very hard to offer detailed replicas of all kinds of cars
at an affordable price for collectors. It certainly is nice to know that
your work is appreciated. THANKS! Great news on the interview, (with Tom
Lowe) I look forward to reading it myself!"
Eileen Maloney-Crouse, Brand Director - Johnny Lightning, South Bend,
IN
Editor's response: THANK YOU!
"Hi, what a wonderful side! Maybe I some some cars we could exchange
or maybe you want to buy them. I have to make time for some searchin'. Because
I'm livin' in The Netherlands some Dutch brands and Siku - Tornado - I have.
I'm always lookin' for VW Beetle models and toys, brochures etc. made before
1970. Please let me know if you're interested. I also collect other miniature
cars."
Hans Kropff, The Netherlands
Editor's response: The Netherlands are home to many diecast collectors
and I keep hearing from them. Perhaps TofTC should have a Dutch version.
